1st Grade
Quarter 1 (September - November)
Students will spend the first quarter practicing routines and procedures through activities related to Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de los Muertos. In addition, students will learn vocabulary related to time of day, daily routines and sequencing.
Quarter 2 (November-January)
Students will spend the second quarter learning about weather and climate. Students will be able to identify vocabulary related to the seasons, months, weather, seasonal activities and dates of holidays.
Quarter 3 (February-April)
Students will spend the third quarter learning about their families and friends. Students will be able to identify vocabulary related to family and friends, age and family celebrations.
Quarter 4 (April-June)
Students will spend the fourth quarter learning about wild animals and habitats. Students will be able to identify vocabulary related to wild animals including their texture, color, size and shape as well as animals' habitats.
2nd Grade
Quarter 1 (September - November)
Students will spend the first quarter practicing routines and procedures through activities related to Hispanic Heritage Month and Dia de los Muertos. Students will also learn about weather and clothing relating it to Spanish-speaking countries.
Quarter 2 (November-January)
Students will spend the second quarter learning about school life. Students will be able to identify vocabulary around the classroom and school.
Quarter 3 (February-April)
Students will spend the third quarter learning about their house. Students will be able to identify types of houses, vocabulary related to houses, describing houses, and comparing houses in Spanish-speaking houses to houses in Chicago.
Quarter 4 (April-June)
Students will spend the fourth quarter continuing to learn about their house. Students will be able to describe classroom rooms and furniture using descriptive adjectives and colors. Students will also be able to locate furniture in their house.
